Scandinavian Airlines-SAS is transferring 27 unprofitable routes to two new lower-cost subsidiaries (SAS Connect and SAS Link): 13 routes from Copenhagen Kastrup and 14 routes from Stockholm Arlanda, according to Dagens Nyheter.
The company says it must lower its costs in order to remain competitive.
SAS Connect (Stockholm-Arlanda) will operate Airbus A320s. Nine A320s have been transferred to this new subsidiary.
SAS Link (Copenhagen) will operate Embraer 195s. So far, six ERJ 195s have been designated. Operations are expected to commence on March 28, 2022. A base is also expected to be established in Bergen, Norway.
Both companies will have lower wages for its pilots.
SAS Scandinavia pilots have been critical of this management plan and no agreement has yet been reached. Negotiations will be forthcoming.
